Weather and Cancellation Info

We know you plan your calendar around your child's games and rescheduling can be tough for many teams, so KBSL will do everything possible to play games as scheduled as long as the conditions are safe.
With that being said, please note the following procedures in case of inclement weather:
  • In an effort to play games as scheduled, we will wait as long as possible to cancel or postpone games, and will only cancel when we're sure the games cannot be safely played. Sometimes the decision may be made just a few minutes before game time.  During inclement weather, we closely monitor forecasts and weather models from NOAA and The NWS and continuously assess the condition of the fields when making cancellation decisions.
  • When there is a tornado watch or warning, or a severe storm warning in effect within one hour of game time, games will be cancelled.
  • In the event games are cancelled, each game will be cancelled individually.  So if the 5:30 games are cancelled, we may still play the 7:15/7:30 games.  Also, we may cancel certain games due to field conditions, but still play games at the same time on other fields.
  • If inclement weather begins during a game, League officials will monitor the conditions and will call a delay or cancel the game if necessary.  If lighting or thunder are observed during a game, there will be an immediate 15 minute delay and the 15 minute delay will start over with each subsequent occurrence.  If a tornado watch or warning or a severe storm warning becomes effective during a game, the came will be immediately cancelled and rescheduled if possible.
Please know, during inclement weather, there will be just a few volunteers monitoring conditions and trying to prepare the fields for play, so in most cases we will not be able to respond to emails inquiring about the status of games.
Immediately after making any cancellation decisions, we will send an email to every member of the League, as well as post an update on our Facebook page.
If you don't get an email from us, plan on playing!

Sometimes the cancellation of games is dependent on field conditions rather than current weather...if it's rained all day, consider coming to the fields a little early to help prepare the fields!  There are typically only a few of us working to dry the fields for play - we could sure use some help!
